A dental implant is a screw like component that acts as an artificial root and gets embedded in the bone, so that a crown\ cap, bridge or dentures can be given on it. The implants are done in the cases where a person loses his\her teeth due to caries, trauma, gum issues etc.

Dental implant is given to support a prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, dentures etc. having a dental implant fused to the jaw bone, is the closest thing to mimicking a natural tooth, as it stands on its own, without affecting the nearby structures.

It is done when 1 teeth is missing\ lost in the mouth and the implant is placed at its place, so that it osseointegrated with the bone and can bear the load of the cap\crown given on it.
